On a side note to Stacey's story about UK copper theft, when I was an analyst at a major US firm several years ago a colleague and I were sent a gushing report from an executive who was visiting the company's new site and surrounds in India. In the report he was in a lather stating that "it is all wireless over here!". My colleague being an ex-South African military guy, used to visiting 3rd world locations cut through the gushing with "....well of course the bloody place is wireless, the staving peasants have stolen all the copper wires and sold them to scrap merchants"From
