1650kg of Silver fired at Libya to enable No-Fly Zone

US Vice Admiral William Gortney, the director of the Pentagon's Joint Staff, briefed journalists on the first phase of the UN-backed international military operations against forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader.

Note each cruise missile contains approx. 15kg of silver in wiring, contacts, solder and batteries.

  2. Sorry for not citing a reference for the 15kg of silver. I first wrote about it in May 2010, here:

    I must have got the number from somewhere, but I'll damned if I can find my original source.

    Although looking at the bigger picture; the point is Silver is used in every modern device, some more than others, and in almost every case because silver is so cheap it is not recycled. Gold is hoarded, but Silver is destroyed.

  4. @Sebastian Ovide - if you look up and the sun's out, telling a liberal will only prompt the response "Can you prove it?" Telling the sun is out to a Republican will more often than not at least get them to concede that its not yet night.
